| PIECES OF FREUD'S SCIENCE In "Pieces of Freud's Science" we study Freud's positioning towards his Umwelt. We shall start with Patricia Cotti's article "The History of the Libido’s Development" which introduces a small but very interesting piece of Freud's various "goings astray" (Laplanche "fourvoiements"). You can appreciate Freud's oscillations between his proper Knowledge, Psychoanalysis proper, and the field of Outside Science. The first being the study of singularities and the second the one of general laws. This issue raises some dialectics: how much one has to know about the Outer Field in order to be able draw the boundaries between the two fields? And to what extent the knowledge on the Outer Field doesn't come to blur the distinction between the two Fields? Patricia Cotti's article. |
